About this activity
The Parc de l'Orangerie is Strasbourg's oldest and most iconic park, designed in 1692 and expanded by Empress Josephine in 1804. Covering 26 hectares with gardens, a boating lake, playgrounds and a free mini-zoo, it's perfect for families.
The star attraction is the stork reintroduction centre where children can observe these majestic birds up close. The conservation programme has been a success — Alsace's stork population grew from 9 pairs in 1982 to over 600 today.
The free mini-zoo also houses pygmy goats, monkeys, ducks and waterfowl. Children can get close to animals in supervised contact areas. A large playground with slides and climbing frames suits different ages.
The lake offers swan pedal boats in spring/summer (€3 for 30 mins). Free entry. Open daily from 7:00 until dusk. Reached by tram line E (Droits de l'Homme stop).
