The Mole Antonelliana is Turin's unmistakable symbol, a 167.5-metre tower designed by Alessandro Antonelli in 1863 that was for decades the world's tallest masonry building. Today it houses the National Cinema Museum, one of the world's most innovative.
The museum spans five floors connected by a helical ramp inside the dome, with interactive exhibitions from 18th-century optical experiments to Hollywood blockbusters. The glass panoramic lift rises through the building's heart to a viewing terrace at 85 metres: from there, the view spans all of Turin with the full Alpine arc as backdrop. Visit at sunset when the snowy peaks turn pink.
