Explore Turin's most vibrant and diverse neighbourhood, where ethnic markets, vinyl bars and underground galleries define the new local identity.
About this activity
San Salvario is living proof that Turin is a city in constant evolution. This neighbourhood south of Porta Nuova station has gone from a working-class residential area to the epicentre of nightlife, alternative culture and ethnic diversity.
The transformation began in the 1990s when artists and students discovered affordable rents and large convertible industrial spaces. What followed was a creative explosion: art galleries in former mechanic workshops, record shops attracting DJs from across Italy, and independent bookshops with their own cultural programming. San Salvario is also Turin's most multicultural quarter: Via Nizza and Via Madama Cristina are a mosaic of cultures. In the evening, terraces fill with an eclectic mix of Erasmus students, local families, artists and young professionals sharing the tradition of free aperitivo food with every drink.
